Hier trafen sich alle, um die Lebensmittel über den Fluss ans andere Ufer zu ziehen.
Eines Tages haben sie eine Granate rein geworfen.
Ich habe zum ersten Mal ein ganzes Haus bluten sehen.
It still stands over there.
Everyone met there to carry food to the other side of the river.
One day they threw in a grenade.
For the first time I saw a house bleed.
der nicht auf mich geschossen hat,
obwohl er bereits auf mich zielte.
Ich möchte ihn fragen, weshalb er nicht abgedrückt hat.
II would like once more to meet the man
who didn’t shoot me down,
even though he had his gun trained on me.
I’d like to ask him why he didn’t pull that trigger.

where illegal weapons could be traded in for just
about anything.
They set up a lottery, where a nice prize was offered for
each weapon handed in.
Kämmte mein Haar und zog mir etwas nettes an.
Ich wollte in all dem Elend ein Mensch bleiben.
Eine Frau.
I had put on make-up on to fetch water.
Combed my hair and put on something nice.
I wanted to feel human still in all this misery.
A woman.
Ich habe versagt.
Ich konnte, die die ich liebte nicht beschützen.

sie bleibt dir als Erinnerung.
To forget is a blessing from God,

It stays with you as a memory.
Ich bin es nicht gewöhnt durch eine Wald oder über
Wiesen laufen zu können.
Bei uns ist noch alles vermient.
Regelmässig fliegt noch ein weidendes Schaf in die Luft.
I need, to learn again how to wander off the paths.
I’m not used to walking in the woods or across fields anymore.
Everything is still covered in mines.
Grazing sheep get blown up all the time..
